so the weather has changed and so has my skin. i don't know what it is but my skin gets extremely parched. when this occurs, i use first aid beauty's ultra repair cream. this is the shit and it saved my skin. i get super high maintenance with my skin and about a year and a half ago my skin went all crazy. it was dry, redness always occured, makeup looked blotchy and it just sucked. i think cause i used a lot of different products and my skin was probably like "whoa whoa whoa wtf!" anyways, i used this and it calmed me down. i used cetaphil (i still do!) as a cleanser and this to moisturize when my skin is pms-ing and very minimal makeup when my skin is in recovery mode. anyways... decided to blog about this since i'm currently using this. it's $28 bucks and the jar lasts forevs. oh and it doesn't have parabens, harsh chemicals or colorants! cha! winning.

so. since 8am on thanksgiving i've been running on about 4 hours of sleep. 4 thanksgiving parties, 6 hours of black friday shopping and work for 7 hours. i was so delusional at work. 5pm came along and my co-worker asked if i wanted to go to happy hour. i said sure! why not. i just wanted a salad. we ended up at nicky rottens, this bar/restaurant burger joint half off appetizers and $3 beers. so one blue moon turned into 4 (come on $3, we had to take advantage), decided to go to mcfaddens and had 2 beers over there, stopped by to get a slice of pizza at ciro's, went to whiskey girl and had 2 more beers while my co-worker had 2 irish car bombs, pretended i was lesbian, broke up two guys who were about to fight, got into voyeur to see some dude who's super popular for free, then ended up at double deuce rode the bull.

all in work clothes.

oh but that's not it. i had work at 6am the next day this time! i woke up a few minutes late but busted my ass to get there. there was something in my eye and it hurt like hell. my eye kept watering but there wasn't anything in there. i'm back in my work clothes FROM LAST NIGHT and looked like hell, it was horrible. the pain in my eye was so bad, i was crying. i left work after 3 hours and went to urgent care. don't know why, but ended up vomiting twice. finally after 2 hours a doctor came to see me. he was super cool. his name was hans :) we were talking and he asked "is redness on your face normal?" i said "oh my skin is really dry right now" he said "well, take a look" looked in the mirror and freaked the fuck out. it was splotchy red spots all over my face! i cried. he said it's ok and he said hydrocortisone cream would work. he looked at my eye and said it's a minor case of conjunctivitis (pink eye, but not) so i must've touched something and rubbed my eye. HORRIBLE. so, i told him "sorry i didn't mean to freak out i have a little bit of anxiety" he said "oh.. well i could give you something for that too.."

so. hans comes back, tells me to pick up artificial tears, hydrocortisone cream and prescribes me ANTI-ANXIETY PILLS. i find that a little hilarious, but i guess i do need to relax sometimes. i've been on the go since thanksgiving. so i finally got home and relaxed. my friend wanted to go out and i was really close to doing but i didn't. i needed some sleep!

after my fam, susan, and the twins house i went to my last stop. my bff danielle. i told her we're going black friday shopping she she's never gone before so it was exciting. i left her house around 9 to get some sleep since i worked the next day at 10am. yes, i thugged it out. anyways, we got to the mall around 2:30. she bought some boots at macy's and we were waiting for h&m to open at 5am.

see my bloody hand. yes. i have more cuts on my hand. so here's that story. sephora opened at 4am. there wasn't a line so we were pretty much the first ones at the door. it's 3:30am. her cousin and i decided to get coffee. we come back around 3:50 and the line is crazy long. danielle and i downed our coffee and we threw our cups away since it looked like it was about to get crazy. what was the big deal? sephora they had this "10 for $10" sale on these bare mineral kits and etc.

the doors opened and i thought everyone was civilized (like the mature women behind me) BUT NO. everyone pushed and shoved to get to that stupid table. i was being pushed so much i ended up on that fucking table. i was pretty much swimming in the products, grabbing shit and telling people to "back the fuck up" pardon my french, but when you are being mauled by a bunch of women for makeup and you end up on the fucking table, you are going to throw some profanity out there.

i had an armful of products and walked out of that frenzy looking like "wtf happened". danielle started laughing and said "give me your stuff... you're shaking" we started dying of laughter. because! it was pretty hilarious. who ends up on a fucking table. she said "wow you just made my first black friday experience great!" that was awesome.

hope you guys got some great black friday steals! i couldn't find anything and work at 10am was in the back of my mind so i couldn't concentrate haha

had a beautiful thanksgiving lunch at my aunt's house. the morning of, i made apple dumplings. i never bring something i never made before unless i've tried it beforehand lol. everybody loved it!!!!! loved it so much they want the recipe! i'm so happy :) that's when you know.. i'm a boss when it comes to baking lol jk. it's funny because i decided to make it while i was running at the gym. yes, i went to the gym on thanksgiving morning. i was pressed for time making those dumplings but i love feeling rushed. it's a fun feeling.

i had 4 thanksgiving get-togethers to go to. after my aunts i went to have a very middle eastern thanksgiving with my dear friend susan. it was awesome, i love middle eastern food!

after breaking dawn, i had lunch at craft + commerce in little italy. the mini corn dogs have bacon inside and it was just heavenly. it wasn't just a hot dog, i think it was bratwurst. i don't like hot dogs but for some reason i had a feeling it wasn't gonna be your regular hot dog inside this corn dog. my salad had a citrus dressing with avocado, fried bleu cheese, almonds and season grilled chicken. drool.

i don't like mixed drinks. reminds me of my fake id days and i'm more of a beer/cognac girl. but it was a special day. it was my birthday. i was talking to the bartender about "fruity cocktails" and how it's not really my forte yada yada yada.. he replied, "i have the perfect drink for you"

lo and behold, the "army/navy". i forgot what he put in this but WOW. nothing has ever made me feel all WOOOOOOOOOOO in a short amount of time. this kept me on a goodie for a few hours. damn that was a drink. f long islands, amf's and every other drink. this is the shit. gonna find out what was in it and i must share with you guys so you can make it at home.

I dressed up as Waldo.. but apparently I looked like hipster Waldo. I wore my Vince Camuto 'Bilco' boots with this outfit and it was my first time wearing them! I love so much! I will do a special post dedicated to the bilco's cause they are just freaking awesome. Anyways, this halloween was a goodie. I just took my little cousins out around the neighborhood, ate pizza hut and sprinkles (so fat). happy labor day!

i spent my afternoon in the kitchen for 3 hours making these babies. i've been eyeing this recipe for a while and something sparked my interest on this particular day to bake bootleg girl scout cookies. honestly, i'm probably going to eat one out of the whole batch. i love sweets but i can't just have these laying around the house. i already know... i'll be bored in the kitchen looking for something to eat and BOOM there goes all my hard work from spin class.

i will be bringing these in to work tomorrow. my co-workers who religiously eat chobani, thinkthin protein bars, unsweetened iced green teas and barely any carbs will love me. swoon!

i made a few modifications to the recipe... i eyeballed a lot of things.

recipe adapted from: cinnamon+chai, once upon a plate

i used werther's chewy caramels. 2 bags ended up being 11oz instead of 12oz. i wanted a rich caramel flavor while on a budget and didn't want the brachs or store brand square caramels. i also used a baker's butter (forgot the brand) instead of land o lakes, i can't believe it's not butter, etc etc

i used a boba straw i randomly had in my kitchen drawers to put holes in the center

while i was waiting for the cookies, i unwrapped all the caramels

those are some big ass cheerios! (btw i had two trays)

shredded sweetened coconut. i put most of this back into the bag. it was plenty for the amount of caramel i had.

while I was waiting for my coconut to toast, i ate some boneless bbq chicken. haha... i had to share.

took me about 25 minutes to toast the coconut

melted the caramel in the microwave. yes i used a rice spatula

so excited at this point since i was getting close to assembling

yes i do realize i totally forgot to cover the bottom in chocolate before topping it off with the caramel and coconut. so i obviously dipped after. don't make the same mistake! i think i was getting too excited...

i didn't want it to be super sweet so i mixed bittersweet and semi-sweet

used the handy dandy microwave to melt ze chocolat

poking a hole in the middle was completely unnecessary.

I'm on the hunt for the best bleu cheese and caramelized onion (in some cases grilled onion) burger. I went to Hodad's for my first time on Sunday. It's pretty popular... Guy Fieri has been there on triple d and if you don't know what triple d is then I don't know whatsa matta with you. Hodad's was featured on diners, drive-ins and dives and Guy had the 'Guido' burger. While on the hunt for the perf bleu cheese and oniony goodness, I ordered the 'Blue Jay' burger.

To my surprise, it came with BACON! So far this is #2 on my list. I just decided to start my list today. So that's what I'm going to order every time I go to a burger joint... unless something else captures my interest. Which will probably happen.

I attempted to make french breakfast muffins about 2 weeks ago. I kept looking in the oven and wondered why they weren't rising. It didn't look like the picture when I took them out! They looked like donuts without the hole. I shrugged and continued to dip in butter and roll in cinnamon sugar. I tried one and thought... hmm these are okay... The next day they were hard as rocks.

It's because I forgot to put baking powder!!!!! AH DUHHH

Last Sunday I decided to make them again. This time WITH baking powder. Peeked inside the oven and they were looking good! So delicioso, soft and muffin-y. I wonder how they would taste if you opened it up and put butter on it... I'm having a Paula Deen moment.
